What are severity levels?
Severity levels allow you to create complex relationships and dependencies between metrics. Generally speaking, severity level 1 events represent an outage. Levels 2 through 5 are considered arbitrary and up to the user’s discretion to use accordingly. However, the hierarchical nature of severity levels (1 is the highest, 5 is the lowest) form the basis for dependencies, allow you to break out of Aggregation Windows prematurely, and support other notification features.
