What are separation papers?
Separation papers is the term that parties often refer to when they are contemplating separating or one of the parties has actually left the marital home, and they want a document to memorialize the separation date and to declare that they are legally separated. A Separation Agreement, while it does memorialize the separation date, does more than that. It is a contract entered into by the parties after negotiation and agreement on issues such as child custody, child support, division of property, post-separation support, and alimony.
