What are Section 5309 Capital Investment discretionary funds?
“Section 5309 funds” refer to the Capital Investment grant funds authorized under 49 U.S.C. 5309. The Secretary may make grants under Section 5309 to assist State and local governmental authorities in financing new fixed guideway capital projects, extensions to existing fixed guideway systems, or corridor based bus investments including the acquisition of real property, the initial acquisition of rolling stock for the systems, the acquisition of rights-of-way, and relocation.
