Chat sessions are similar to office hours with the instructor. These times are scheduled to let you communicate with the instructor live (like instant-messaging). These are usually for a one-hour time period. Discussion forums are where the instructor poses a question and the students are to write back their thoughts and analyses. All students are able to read each other’s discussion replies. Several discussion forums are posted in each course and replies must be made within the specified timeframe.
