What are Red Cross international tracing services and emergency communications?
The American Red Cross may be able to help you find and reconnect with loved ones around the world after natural disasters, war, civil unrest or other international catastrophes through its international tracing services and emergency communications. A team of tracing volunteers work with other national Red Cross and Red Crescent societies to help reunite families. The American Red Cross Bay Area works with individuals to secure information about their lost relatives and the circumstances that created the separation. The inquiry is then sent through American Red Cross national headquarters to the appropriate Red Cross or Red Crescent Society or the International Committee of the Red Cross. Some tracing inquiries take several months to resolve, while others may take several years. Some inquiries may never be successfully answered.
