What are reasonable test levels?
The ideal ppm level is between 0.2 to 0.5ppm free chlorine as it is best known. A high level is in excess of .8ppm. At this level it can become very noticeable by smell and taste. Examples: 0.4ppm of free chlorine in the kitchen tap is within the recommended limits and would measure about 329 on the oxidisation scale. The chlorine odour would be moderate but apparent. It can also test 1.2ppm which is quite high and 689 as an oxidizer reading. The odour would be quite strong. People can suffer from dry skin and hair showering at this level. It can affect sensitive stomachs.
