What are really good Jaw relaxation techniques/exercises?
Here is are a few excellent jaw relaxation exercises that I have found helpful. They will help the muscles of the jaw to relax, and are extremely helpful in TMJ cases. 1. Tilt your head back slightly, supporting it at the back with your hands. Push lower jaw out and up until you feel tension in chin and throat. Make 20 little upward thrusts with your jaw. Relax. Repeat three times. Drop the jaw. Repeat the word ‘jaw’ pushing the mouth open wider with each repetition. Repeat 10 times. 2. Find a mirror and stand in front of it. Open and close your mouth slowly. Keep your head straight. If you suffer from TMJ dysfunction, your jaw will open to one side. Concentrate and focus on opening your mouth straight. This will be a bit difficult because muscles on one side of your mouth or jaw are weak and do not function properly. Open and close your mouth correctly 10 times, then rest.
