What are Question Variants?
One of Prep-U’s powerful features is the expansion of many of its questions into “variants.” Question Variants are based on the same stem question, but provide the student with a different array of answers. The power of this feature is that it provides insight for instructors into the confusions that may be causing students to arrive at wrong answers. As you browse the Question Database, you will notice that each variant “family” is represented by a single question. Questions that have variations are followed by a link that reads “See other variants of this question.” You can see and use the variants by clicking on the link. There are never more than three variants for any question. Note that we only count the representative question, not the variants, in the total count of questions available within Prep-U.
