What are quarks made up of?

0

Science does not currently know of any particles which make up quarks, but that doesn’t necessarily mean there aren’t any. Quarks are really, really tiny. However, there is a problem with trying to measure the size or really anything about quarks. They don’t exist on their own, but withing small particles which come in two groups, baryons and mesons. Both are made up of a bunch of quarks (scientists think), but a lot of the quarks cancel each other out, so we can only see the “net” quarks that aren’t canceled (called valence quarks). Baryons have three quarks that we can see, and mesons have two, and the rest are a mystery. Thus it’s very difficult to tell much about what goes on inside any particle, as far as quarks go.
