What are QBR The Black Book Review and the Harlem Book Fair?
Since 1992, QBR The Black Book Review has been the leader, innovator and reliable source for what is current in black books. It is a magazine and Web site that offers well-crafted, critical reviews of fiction, nonfiction, poetry and children’s books, insightful interviews, original short stories, and black book publishing news and highlights. Exclusively dedicated to the African American experience, it was the first of its kind – what The New York Times has called “the African American book review of record.” Out of QBR evolved the Harlem Book Fair. It was founded in 1999 as a community event and forum for African American readers to discover, experience and celebrate African American history and culture through books. Harlem Book Fair has since become the largest African American dedicated book event in the nation, drawing more than 50,000 people.
