What are provincial exams for?

They are similar to the SATs, something I suppose you can relate to if you live in the United States. Certain subjects are tested per-year, and that grade is added to the percentile. They use to be used to determine what teachers were doing their job, but with teachers now being tenured left and right, that aspect is dead, seeing as how it would be a major hassle, and practically impossible to can a teacher on the basis that they were bad at teaching; this is the same sort of situation in the States to my knowledge. The Provincial tests also sometimes go by province. Saskatchewan doesn’t have provincial exams, but a downside to that is, even some of their university education is not transferable, even from province to province. Some Province’s post-secondary institutions couldn’t care less about the Provincial exams except for the English 12, which is worth 40% of the final grade. Canadian students in all provinces (except SK) make it a habit to contact their post-secondary institution
