Sometimes it is a foretelling of the future, as Agabus did when he indicated by the Spirit in Acts 11 that there would be a great famine over all the world. Sometimes that is a revealing of the truth that has been covered up, as Nathan did when he revealed the sin of David to him in 2Samuel 12.
