What are probable impacts of climate change?
Based on computer models, scientists came to the conclusion that global warming will result in an increase in average global surface temperature, average global sea level rise, and a global increase in precipitation. These changes will have an impact, among others, on • Coastal areas (inundation of coastal lands including low-lying atolls, erosion of beaches and coastlines) • Forest (geographical range, decrease of forest health and production) • Agriculture (change in crops, change in yield, increased irrigation demands) • Health (increase in diseases, weather related mortality) • Water resources (change in supply, reduction of quality) At this moment it is very difficult to predict what effect the changes will have on the regional level.
