What are Private Directories?

0

Each workstation on the network must have a workstation ID such as 01 or 02 Etc. Each workstation must also have a private directory on the system where sorts and temporary files are stored. If two users have the same workstation ID then they will be sharing the same private directory which makes it not very “private”. Some side effects are mixing line items on freight bills, and spontaneous switching from one set of company data to another. Make sure each machine has a unique workstation ID. Check the workstation parameters of each machine on your network by accessing system utilities and taking number 1, Change Workstation Parameters. If each ID at the top of the screen is unique and each private directory is unique (item #8) everything should be OK. If two or more workstations share the same values, contact VerTechs for assistance in changing them.
