What are pre-authorized monthly payments and am I eligible to participate?
Pre-authorized monthly payments are taken directly from your bank account. To be eligible, your property must be fully assessed. The applicant must have no overdue taxes and cannot have a mortgage company responsible for their payments. Applications are available on the website. Requirements are: • A valid chequing account • A void cheque. Credit cards or lines of credit are not acceptable as payment. Applications and void cheques may be faxed to the Tax Office at (905) 874-2296. Applicants may choose to have monthly payments made on the 1st or 15th of the month, or may have the six regular instalments withdrawn on the due dates. When an application has been accepted, the homeowner will receive a statement of taxes confirming the due dates and amounts of payment withdrawals.
