What are placement tests, and do I have to take one?
Placement tests are offered in several areas to ensure that the student is placed in the class most suited to his needs and abilities. • Depending on your college/program requirements, and transfer credit, you may be required to complete an English or math placement exam. Contact your advisor to make sure. • If you plan to take a foreign language and have some experience, you may want to take the foreign language placement test; it’s offered in Spanish or French. If your language experience is in Russian or German, please talk to the instructor for recommended placement. • Chemistry offers a chemistry diagnostic exam. This exam is only required for those students who wish to begin with General Chemistry.
