Placement tests are offered in several areas to ensure that the student is in the class most suited to his needs and abilities. If you are transferring in three hours or more of English composition from an accredited institution, you are not required to take the English placement test. If you are transferring in intermediate algebra or a higher math and have fulfilled your math requirement for your degree, you do not have to take the math placement test; however, if you plan to go on in math, you may need to take the test. Talk to your advisor to find out for sure. If you plan to take a foreign language and have some experience, you may want to take the foreign language placement test; it’s offered in Spanish or French. If your language experience is in Russian or German, please talk to the instructor for recommended placement. Chemistry offers a chemistry diagnostic exam. This exam is only required for those students who wish to begin with General Chemistry.
