As a generalization, I don’t like pit bulls. I also don’t like generalizations. Just hearing/reading the words “breed ban” get my blood pressure up. There should be no such thing, and any state that has already adopted one has made a mistake, in my opinion. Virginia, where I live, has voted down a breed ban and instead voted for a “dangerous dog” law. The owner(s) of any dog that attacks a person or another dog will be taken to court for either second degree murder or attempted second degree murder. This law holds that a dog that attacks is no different than any other weapon that can be used to kill. Our new system is not perfect — first, someone must be harmed before anything can be done about the dangerous dog. But then again, our system does not penalize law-abiding citizens or their non-aggressive dogs. For the record, my parents had two German shepherds before I was born. One of them attacked a child and attempted to attack a friend of my dad’s. GSD’s can be just as dangerous as
