What are pH levels and Alkaline Balance?
Acidity and alkalinity are measured by a logarithm scale scale known as pH (potential hydrogen) which ranges from 0 – 14. The pH of any solution is the measure of its hydrogen-ion concentration. The higher the pH reading, the more alkaline and oxygen rich the fluid is. The lower the pH reading, the more acidic and oxygen deprived the fluid is. Our body, mostly made up of water, can have either acid or alkaline properties which are measured by this graduated scale called pH. A pH value of 1.0 to 6.9 is considered acidic. A pH of 7.0 is considered neutral. Finally, a pH of 7.1 to 14.0 is alkaline. The lower the pH number, the greater the acidity. The higher the pH number, the greater the alkalinity.
