What are PeopleSoft ChartFields and the new Chart of Accounts?
ChartFields are individual components–or values–that, when combined, make up what is called a ChartField String. The complete set of ChartField Strings is the University of Florida’s Chart of Accounts. The new PeopleSoft ChartFields structure goes far beyond the legacy system which required just the organization code, object code and expansion option; there are ten main ChartField components. ChartFields are extremely important in PeopleSoft–what is entered into the system determines how the transaction gets routed, handled, and approved.
