What are pelagic and neritic deposits ?
we can divide ocean deposits into 5 types(broad classification):based on origin/sources 1.terrigenous 2.products of submarine volcanism 3.skeletal remains of organisms 4.inorganic precipitates 5.extra terrestrial material organic deposits can be further divided into –Pelagic and Neritic pelagic — consists of remains of different types of algae in the form of liquid mud generally known as ooze.oozes are of 2 types — calcareous oozes and siliceous oozes. calcareous oozes —>globigerina ooze and pteropod ooze siliceous oozes —-> radiolarian ooze and diatom ooze Neitic deposits includes skeletons of marine organisms and plant remains,these are found mostly on continental shelves.
