What are parents doing to prevent their children from using drugs?
Most likely nothing. Yeah sure we can eat dinner with the kids and talk to the kids, but it all boils down to what the kid does. My Folks warned me of the dangers of drugs, threatened me, cajoled me, we all ate dinner at the same table – none of this ‘stuff’ prevented me from finding drugs (and alcohol) and the parties and the highs and the lows that comes with drug use. For me it took one too many bad instances in my life to make me make a real decision to go and get drunk and stay drunk. I stuck to that promise to myself until I was turned on to cocaine. Having found a substance that actually numbed my emotions from the pain I refused to deal with, I went from alcohol to coke head in about a week. After reaching a low in my life and taking the hard cold turkey route off of coke I stayed clean for several years, then I found Meth.
