Let’s start with some basics about paraben. Paraben or parabens are used in most cosmetic products nowadays in order to preserve them longer, in order to increase their expiry date. It’s the preservative of the skincare industry and this means that paraben free products will usually have much shorter life spans and somewhat higher price tags. The fact is that parabens are chemicals, and they’re rather dangerous chemicals as well. Researchers have shown that parabens such as methyl paraben, ethyl paraben, butyl paraben and propyl paraben can increase the chances of developing cancer. So if these parabens are chemical agents that aren’t that good for you in the long run why are they still being used in everything from face creams and body lotions to moisturizers?
