What are other devices available for the deaf or hard of hearing people?
There are several devices available for individuals with hearing loss to assist them in day to day activities which involve hearing. they are called Assistive Listening Devices (ALDs). Below are some examples for ALDs. Text telephone: this is recommended for individuals with severe hearing impairment and who face difficulties following conversations over the telephone. This allows phone conversations to be typed and read rather than spoken and heard. Vibro-alarm: Most alarms ring. This can be difficult for individuals with hearing impairment. Whereas a vibro-alarm is tactile, they are often placed under the pillow which vibrates at the set time for alarm instead of ringing. Induction loop systems: these work in conjunction with the ”Telecoil” placed inside the hearing aid.
