Hello again, They are, or were, trade union men working mainly on the docks i think in the US. They obviously decided who was hired or fired and presumably that is where the “teamster” handle came from. Most certainly they were a mob, and maybe they in turn were influenced by the Mafia. Being over this side of the pond i could only glean my information whilst studying social and industrial history. Hope this will suffice.
