What are O*Net, CIP, and NAICS, and how does e3.ky.gov use them?
CIP, O*NET, and NAICS are nationally recognized classification systems used to organize information about educational programs, occupations, and industries. Each system uses a different numeric coding structure, which e3.ky.gov does not display. Rather, the three systems are “cross walked” or “matched” behind the e3 application, giving you only the educational program, occupational, or industry titles. These cross walks also ensure that the most related educational programs are linked to specific jobs and the industries in which those jobs are found.
