A One-Call Center is a non-profit organization, organized by local utilities within a state to provide a way for contractors and homeowners to call in an underground locate request before they dig. The One-Call Center will notify all member utilities of your plan to dig and provide the utility the opportunity to identify their underground facilities. All states require at least two (2) business days or more notice before digging, otherwise that person could be liable for damages or outages caused by digging without the locate request. Each state varies as to the fee, fines, and liabilities for persons that do not call in locate requests.
