What are official transcripts?
Official college transcripts are on special paper and have the seal of the school embossed into the paper. It’s okay if the transcript is stamped “Issued to Student” as long as it’s an official copy with the embossed seal. Typically, when you request transcripts from a school, they’ll mail them directly to UC Office of Admissions. We need to have all your transcripts before we can admit you to UC.
Official transcripts are issued directly to WCTC from the high school or college. Official transcripts are sent in sealed envelopes and contain official signatures/seals of the high school or college. To request official transcripts, you will need to contact your high school and previous college(s). There is usually a form you will need to complete and sign. Also, there is usually a fee for issuing official transcripts. Check with your high school or previous college directly to learn more about requesting official transcripts. Additionally, it can take several weeks to have official transcripts issued. It is recommended that you request official transcripts as soon as you start the admissions process.
Official transcripts are the original or certified records of all marks received during your last 3 years of high school or college. In some countries, they may be called school reports or grade sheets. Please note that the Form I-20 will not be issued until we receive official copies of your high school or college transcripts, either original or certified. A certified English translation must be submitted if your original transcript is not in English. A certified copy accepted by Foothill is a copy of your original transcript/diploma certified as a “true” copy by your school (bearing an official seal of the school and signature), by an official agency recognized by your local government, or by a public notary. Transcripts marked “Issued to Student” or “Student Copy” are not considered official. Internet print-outs are not accepted. You can contact a local Education USA office for help in identifying local organizations authorized to certify transcripts.
To be considered official, transcripts must be sent directly from the issuing institution (ex. high school, university, examining board) to the U of C in a sealed envelope with the stamp of the institution over the seal. For many countries, results of examinations conducted by national examining boards must be sent straight from the board rather than your high school. From certain countries, we will allow you to bring your original high school transcript to our office, where a photcopy will be made and considered official. For further information, call the Recruitment and Admissions Office at (403) 210-ROCK(7625). Post-secondary transcripts must always be sent directly from the issuing institution. Our address can be found on the Contact Us page on the Admissions website.
Official transcripts are comprehensive records of the course of study for a student’s work at any given school. Transcripts list course titles and the grades earned for each individual class as well as quality points and credit hours. Transcripts are mailed directly to the Admission Office from the academic institutions you have attended.
