What are NVQ’s?
• NVQ’s are qualifications that have been designed to demonstrate ability at work. • The training is mainly at work. NVQ assessments accredit an individual’s performance at work against national standards. The NVQ is a nationally recognised qualification. • You do not need any prior qualifications to undertake an NVQ. The NVQ is available to all irrespective of age or type of employment. • The NVQ is assessed against work place evidence and there are no tests or exams. • An NVQ is based on a unit system, which is made up of a number of national occupational standards that cover all the main aspects of a particular job. Units can be chosen to reflect the job that a person is carrying out and the skills they need to perform it.
