What Are Non-Starch Polysaccharides?
Non-starch polysaccharides (NSP) is another (new) name for dietary fiber. There are two kinds of NSP – insoluble and soluble. Most plant foods contain both types although proportions vary. Good sources of insoluble NSP/fiber include: wheat, corn, rice, vegetables and pulses. Good sources of soluble NSP/fiber include: apples, citrus fruits and oats.
