What are Non-Geographic Numbers (NGNs)?
Non-Geographic Numbers are so called because they do not represent a geographic point or location, like standard telephone numbers. For example; if the STD code is 0121, from this we know the caller is calling from Birmingham. A NGN may be used alongside your existing telephone number but gives the impression of a large nationwide company. The number can also help to keep track of calls and assist in marketing and advertising campaigns.
A – NGN’s are used more and more frequently by call centres to facilitate the effective management of their inbound calls. NGN numbers are so called because they do not relate to a particular geographical location, like normal telephone numbers do. An NGN does not replace your existing telephone number but rather sits in front of it and becomes the number that potential/existing customers see on advertising and promotional materials.
