What are non-biodegradable substances?

0

Non-biodegradable substances are those things which are not degradable by naturally. These things stay in earth for thousands and thousands of years.A well know example is Plastics which we are use daily. These are polymeric products which are not utilised or digested by any living system as they don’t have digestive enzymes for such polymers. It is roughly estimated that it will take some 3 lac years for the degradation of plastic therefore it is called Non-biodegradable but we can re-utilise these things.Recent studies in Biotechnology reviled that some genetically modified bacterias can degrade these plastics into carbon compounds and utilise it.This is going to be a cure for this plastic pollution in near future.
