What are neural and sensory systems?
Neural and sensory systems control how the brain sends and receives messages to other parts of the body, such as muscles, blood vessels and glands. These systems allow us to do everyday things such as breathe, walk, talk, reason, think, see and swallow. Injuries to the nervous system, such as spinal cord injury or stroke or diseases like Epilepsy and Alzheimer’s can cause breakdowns in neural and sensory systems. These breakdowns stop messages from being properly sent and received. Without these messages to guide movement and other activities, even ordinary tasks can become difficult or impossible to complete.
