What are negative ions and how does negative ionising work?
Almost all common airborne particles (dust, pollen, odours) are positively charged. To eliminate these particles the lamps have an inbuilt generator which produces negative ions. When the lamp is switched on the in build negative ion generator starts to produce negative ions 3,5 mil per second. As soon as a positive atoms meets an negative ion the positive atom is neutralised. When the positive atom for example is a dust particle it will fall on to the nearest surface it meets in case of certain odours the smell disappears.
