What are negative effects of Communication technology other than cyberbullying and social skills?
A big disadvantage of communication technology is that misunderstandings can occur if messages are not constructed properly. People often compile messages quickly without realizing how they will be construed. While face to face communication allows for an explanation if the person does not understand or sees ambiguity in the message. Face to face communication also allows for people to read the non verbal cues of the communicator. Another disadvantage of electronic communication is that confidential information can be easily forwarded and disseminated and if done in error could easily end up in the wrong hands. Rumors and gossip can also be spread fast and get out of control.
