Nanoparticles are nano-sized particles that are specifically designed to penetrate deep into the skin. As sun damage is done closer to the surface of the skin, the particles used in sunscreens, (specifically Titanium Dioxide and Zinc Oxide) are specifically sized so that they DO NOT penetrate the skin. Instead, they remain on top of the skin’s surface where they reflect and scatter the UV radiation.
