What are N+ and Ca2+ channels?
Sodium and calcium ion channels are two types of voltage dependent ion channels. DXM has recently been found to block their activity, although it is not particularly potent in this capacity. Because of their extensive presence, blockade of these ion channels could have overall depressant effect upon brain function, and might explain DXM’s toxic effects at very high dosages.
