What are my treatment options for a distal radius fracture?
Distal radius fractures are the most common fractures in the body. They involve a break near the wrist in the bone that permits forearm rotation. Treatment options include splinting or casting if the break is stable and well-aligned or surgery if it is not. Although many different types of surgery are available, the one that I most commonly use is a plate and screw construct that stabilizes the fracture and allows relatively early wrist motion.
