What are my rights during a DWI arrest?
You have the right to remain silent and not answer questions. You have the right to refuse to take any portable breathalyzer test and the field sobriety test. The officer may also violate your rights if he acts inappropriately. He can only pull you over if he had a good reason to do so. He must have had probable cause before he searched your vehicle or chose to arrest you. When he did arrest you, he should have read you your rights. At Crain Lewis, LLP, we have helped many clients beat their DWI charges after a police office violated their rights. If you believe your rights were violated in any way, be sure to inform your attorney.
