What are my responsibilities before filing the Special Permit application?
After you’ve met with a Land Use Planner to develop the checklist for the development proposal, the Planning Director of Planning and Development (hereafter the “Planning Director”) may require that you meet with relevant development review staff from other City departments to receive their input as early as possible in the process. You may also ask for such a preapplication review meeting. The Chief Zoning Code Official (“CZCO”) must determine the exact zoning relief required before a Special Permit application can be filed with the City Clerk. You must submit to the CZCO a completed checklist, plans and such other information as needed for the zoning determination. Pursuant to ยง3 of the Rules, the CZCO must notify you within 21 days if the submitted information is incomplete. The CZCO then has 45 days in which to make a written zoning determination.
