What are my responsibilities as a parent/guardian in the Distance Learning Program?
Parents/guardians have a vital role in the education of their child. The parent becomes the student?s mentor. Initially, the parent should establish a learning plan and goals. Help for this task is provided in the mentor orientation course taken by the parent during the students first week in the program. The parents/guardians must then set aside a specific time during the day to fufill on the needs of their student. They must be consistently available to help guide/proctor their student and record attendance. They are also responsible for transportation to any school events (state testing, optional field trips, etc).
