What are my redundancy rights?

You are supposed to get 90 days notice of possible redundancies, company wide, so that your union can negotiate with management about the selection process and compensation. If you are in a union and have union representation, they will give you all the help you need. If you don’t have a union, get yourself down to the CAB. Citizens Advice Bureau, and get advice and information from them. They have experts who are well informed about redundancy matters. I worked for a company for 34 years and I got I months notice of redundancy, but there was a 90 day consultation period before we were informed that we were being made redundant. The minimum redundancy payment is 1 weeks pay for every year worked, up to a maximum of 16 weeks (from age 21). I’m not sure about this, the rules may have changed recently. You should also be entitled to any outstanding holiday pay.
