What are my “odds” of getting accepted into the academy?
The California Regional Fire Academy accepts 45 recruits into each academy class. At least 15% of the recruit positions are selected from a lottery. We receive approximately 100-150 applications for each Academy class. Applicants who meet the minimum qualifications, but we just don’t have the space to accept them, will be kept on a “wait list”. Do not be discouraged if you are on the wait list. Due to scheduling conflicts, other financial obligations, or personal circumstances some recruits withdraw from the academy before it begins. This means we are able to invite several recruits from the wait list.
