• Talk with your babys physician and get a referral to a pediatric audiologist. • A list of audiologists is on the DSHS website at https://www.dshs.state.tx.us/audio/pactpro.shtm. Step 2 – If your baby does not pass the follow-up screen • The audiologist and/or your physician will refer you to the Early Childhood Intervention program to help you with intervention services. The pediatric audiologist will do more testing and may recommend hearing aids for your baby. Hearing aids may be fit on babies immediately. • A pediatric audiologist will do a number of different tests on your baby to identify the kind of hearing loss and degree of hearing loss your baby has. This testing can take several hours, and will probably happen across several visits to the office, and not at one visit. Step 3 – This step can happen while you are working with the audiologist (Step 2) • Early Childhood Intervention (ECI) will work with you to develop a plan for your baby for receiving services that are needed.
