What are my first steps in creating a web site?
If you are thinking of creating a web site, then you already have an idea of what you want it to do or say. What is your goal? To offer information or make money as an example? Many sites do both. Be clear in the objective. Determine what the content should be before deciding how to present it. For example, if you are creating a site that contains resources on a medical condition, determine if you intend to be the expert or a resource. If you are the expert, then get busy writing. If you are the resource, then find material you can either reprint, or link to. Another example. If you are selling goods or services, then use standard marketing techniques to present and convince your audience to purchase from you. If you have an established business, then you have already done this. There are mountains of excellent books available on the subject of marketing. Determine the content early in the game, the rest is a matter of mechanics.
