What are must-see sights in Kobe, Japan?
‘A great many things account for Kobe’s unique charm – the beauty of the surrounding sea and mountains, the international cuisine, the delicious coffee and western sweets, the exotic and fashionable ambience, and the historic houses and Important Cultural Assets, along with a variety of other delights. The sea is often regarded as the undeniable “face” of Kobe. Along the coast in the western part of the city are situated many public parks, such as Sumaura Park, Maiko Park, and Suma Kaihin Park. There is also a famous and popular beach and yacht harbor at Suma, where it is possible to enjoy fishing throughout the year. Harborland (see page “Urban planning&Development Projects”) and Meriken Park offer access to a variety of cruise ships and relaxing shopping and dining by the harbor. Kobe also boasts the Rokko Mountains, part of the Seto Inland Sea National Park.
