As explained on the MIRIAM Standard page and just above, the community has to agree on a set of standard valid URIs. MIRIAM Resources is a set of services and resources composed of a database, powered by MySQL (MIRIAM Database), SOAP-based Web Services, using Apache Axis (MIRIAM Web Services), a library to access these Web Services, currently available in Java, but other languages will be supported soon (MIRIAM Library) and a Web application, running with Apache Tomcat (MIRIAM Web Application). The database and the associated API (Web Services) have been developed at the European Bioinformatics Institute to provide the generation and interpretation of MIRIAM URIs.
