[back to top] Medium format cameras work with a 60 mm film. The exposed surface is approximately 4.5 times bigger than with the commonly used small image film (35 mm film). The difference can be easily seen in the following graphic. The resolution of such a film material is a lot better than the resolution of current digital cameras. A scanned medium format image (6×7 cm) has the enormous resolution of approximately 98 mega pixels. (Current digital cameras offer up to 14 megapixels.
