What are Mealybugs?
Mealybugs are soft bodied and partially or entirely covered with a waxy cottony secretion. They are oval with legs and antennae. They are usually very easy to spot on your plants. They appear as little spots of white cotton. Like the soft scale, they also excrete dew which attracts ants and helps sooty molds to grow. The female lays from 100 to 200 eggs in white cottony ovisac. The eggs are pale yellow and hatch in about two weeks. If the infestation is not too bad, you can wipe off the mealy bugs with a cotton swab dipped in rubbing alcohol.
