What are Makaton Training Days?
Many people with learning disabilities have limited language skills and use Makaton signs and symbols to converse and communicate needs. Often people who do not need the Makaton signs for understanding still like to use them. Using Makaton signing in worship adds an extra dimension, allowing people to use movement to express their appreciation of God. The training day equips people with a basic vocabulary for communication and worship through songs, prayers, Bible stories and games. It is very suitable for people with learning disabilities, their friends, supporters and family, and Causeway Prospects Group team members. All training days are led by Makaton tutors who have been specially trained by Causeway Prospects.
